Forest, Rocks, Fog and Ocean in Acadia National Park, Maine

The dramatic clash of land and ocean is traced by the wavelets lapping at great granite boulders strewn along this abrupt, rocky shoreline in Acadia National Park in Maine. In the evening of a calm but cloudy day such tranquility is a welcome respite for what can be a tumultuous, violent onslaught of relentless surf. Here, for the moment, we find peace and the solitude of ages in the misty pines cloaking the inland slopes.
