Boathouses at Chaffeys Lock
About the Subject: The Rideau Canal, built to defend against American invasion and, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, threads through a series of lakes and channels in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve connecting Lake Ontario and the Ottawa River. A paradise for boaters and fishermen alike, bucolic pastures, mill races, rapids and rugged gorges line the shores.
About the Image: Boathouses nestle in the shelter of overhanging trees from the continual downpour on a Fall day at Chaffeys Locks on the Rideau Canal. Wet foliage makes Fall colours ‘pop” as light reflects in the rain and accentuates the three-dimensional depth of the image.
